Jesus at the Throne of Grace

Easter.  Did we just look at Jesus and what He did for us at Easter?  Didn't we just go through a season to remember the cross and Jesus with his sacrifice for us?  This is the perfect time to look at one more reason to approach the throne of grace with confidence.

Hebrews 4:16
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Today I want you to take a look at the previous verse, Hebrews 4:15.

Hebrews 4:15
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin.

This verse explains why we should without question approach the throne of grace with confidence.  Jesus is this high priest.  Jesus was tempted in every way.  Jesus is able to sympathize with our weaknesses.  Yet He was without sin.

Do you know who sits with God at the throne of grace?  Jesus.

Jesus sits with God at the throne of grace.  Hebrews 8:1 tells us, "We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven."  Just before his trial before Pilate, Jesus tells the council of religious leaders, "from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God."  Luke 22:69  In Luke 22:70 it says:  They all asked, "Are you then the Son of God?"  He replied, "You are right in saying I am."

Jesus tells us that he does sit at the right hand of God, at the throne of grace.  When you approach the throne of grace you approach Jesus.  You approach the one who died for you.  You approach the one who completely sacrificed himself for you.  This is the one who took the mocking, ridicule, beatings and was nailed to a cross for you.  Because of his love for you, Jesus suffered beyond belief.  That Jesus, who loves you beyond any amount of suffering, sits at the throne of grace waiting for you.  Can you please then approach the throne of grace with confidence for him?

Will you honor his sacrifice and his love for you by approaching Him with confidence?

Jesus took this suffering and accepted death for you.  His desire is not that you come to the throne of grace in any uncertainty or unworthy manner.  He wants you to approach him and the throne of grace with confidence because you know what he did for you.  He wants your head held up high to see your face.

This week think back to the cross and what Jesus did for you.  Then think of Jesus sitting at the right hand of God looking and waiting for you to approach.  Imagine Jesus sitting beside his Father God, your Father God, looking for you.  He is now whole and beautiful.  His sacrifice and blood are complete, finished.  Now Jesus sits with his Father at the throne of grace waiting, waiting for you to honor what He did for you.

Picture Jesus sitting at this throne of grace with it's unlimited and unconditional blessing.  Show him you love him.  Show him you are forever grateful for his love for you and his ultimate sacrifice for you.  Approach the throne of grace with confidence, with your head held high to look into his eyes.  Go with confidence in what you believe.  Show Jesus you believe He did those things for you by boldly approaching the throne.

Jesus waits for you at the throne of grace.  He is waiting to give you mercy and grace.  That is why he died.  Let him give you what he died for on that cross.  You love him.  Show him.  Approach the throne of grace with confidence.

John describes his first view of Jesus in Revelation as follows:
Revelation 1:13-16
dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.  His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.  In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword.  His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.

Let us then approach the throne of grace looking for His face like the sun shining in all it's brilliance.  This week picture Jesus at throne of grace, at the right hand of God waiting for you.  He is whole.  He is alive.  He waits for you.  Keep an image of Jesus in your mind at the throne.  Use John's beautiful description to visualize Jesus as He is now and not as He was on the cross - so that you can hold your head high to see Him face to face.  I want you to make a serious effort to remember to do this so that next week you will be ready for something extremely exciting.  It will require your spiritual vision.  This week looking at Jesus and imaging that description of him will prepare you for an extraordinary event for next week.  Don't miss it.  And come prepared.
