We have talked about grace to the extent that I hope you see it is free and unconditional. A better understanding of grace will help us to approach God and his throne with more ease. I know I have peeked your interest possibly with a promise to show you a visual of the throne itself, however I have stumbled on some roadblocks there. I have been eager to share it with you because of it's employment of your imagination and spiritual vision. However in the course of writing recently I have not only misplaced it but also feel I should not rewrite it at this time.
Some of the studies I have introduced in this series, How to See Answers to Prayer Clearly, were written in November 2009. I have used all of them except the missing one with a description of the throne in heaven. I wrote part of it a while back and intended on completing if for you by now. However I can not find it. I do have many files, notebooks and stacks of writing throughout my house, but I have searched without success in locating it. This could be and most likely is God's way of steering me in another direction at this time. It has happened in the past, and I saw the reason for it clearly later. Don't despair I know this beautiful visual description of the throne of God will be shared at some point. At this time I will simply follow God and what I feel led to write.
I just wanted to share a little insight into the life of this writer and how God absolutely reigns in what my Bible studies will say and when they will be shared. Also I did not mean to build up anticipation for a particular study and then delay it. I will be more careful with my excitement in the future. Know dear ladies that I adore writing these studies for you and for me. I love sharing with you lessons from God and his Word that we both walk out together. Thank you for your interest in God's work through me, the mere messenger. God receives all the glory and praise for speaking to us his women, his servants, his beautiful creations. I hope you enjoy this week's study and come closer and closer to the throne.
Love,
Truly
Let's return to our verse Hebrews 4:16.
Hebrews 4:16
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence,
Now read why:
so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
(Hebrews 4:16)
Why are we spending so much time learning to approach the throne of grace? The second half of that scripture explains it. We want to approach the throne of grace "so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Mercy and grace, it says, will help us in our time of need. If we approach the throne of grace, there we can receive and find something to help us in our time of need. Why do we need to understand the throne of grace? We need to understand it to be able to approach it and then receive help in our time of need. When you pray you many times have a need. Learning to approach the throne of grace will change and improve your prayer life.
Hebrews 4:16 tells us to approach the throne of grace with confidence. Do we need confidence for this task? Yes. Confidence implies faith. Confidence shows your faith.
Hebrews 4:16
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence,
so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
We must approach first. But also we must approach the throne with confidence so that we may receive and find help. God has taught us that grace and mercy are not strained but gentle and free with no conditions. But is that enough for you to be confident in approaching His throne?
Let's take a look at confidence today. What is the opposite of confidence? How about fear? Fear would be the opposite of confidence. Is fear standing in your way of approaching the throne of grace? Is fear of being unworthy stopping you from approaching His throne? What fears do you have that might be prohibiting you from approaching God and this beautiful throne of grace? You must have confidence to approach this throne and receive your help. So is there fear standing in the way? I believe that one fear many of us encounter with approaching grace is the fear of "I am just not good enough."
Listen to a few thoughts that would apply to this particular fear.
Fears Prohibiting me from approaching grace:
A. Fear of "I am just not good enough"
Thoughts could include any of the following:
- I am a sinner.
- I can't stop sinning.
- I repeat a lot of the same sins.
- I am not a good Christian.
- I don't try enough.
- I don't read the Bible enough.
- I don't spend time with God.
- I don't pray very often.
- I am a sinner.
- I just keep sinning.
Grace wants us you sinner, you repetitive sinner, you not so good enough... sinner. Grace was designed for you sinner, you not so good.....sinner. There is no need for grace if there is no sinner. If sinners don't approach the throne of grace, who will? It will be empty. Grace is calling all sinners! Grace has no place for the perfect, sinless because Jesus is grace.
"Sinners are needed," says Grace.
Possible signs along the road to the throne of grace:
- Sinners Needed this Way.
- We Need More Sinners.
- If You Feel You Are Good Enough, Turn Around
- If You Are Perfect, Go Home
- Sinners PLEASE Bring More Sinners With You
- The Throne Ahead was Built for Sinners
- Jesus Built this Throne
- Please come. We Need Sinners.
This week meditate on the area of confidence. Repeat the first part of Hebrews 4:16, "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence" often and consider what may be blocking your confidence. Are you a bona fide, authentic sinner? Then welcome to the throne of grace. Let your confidence increase this week while you take into thought the reason for grace. Enjoy this confidence builder you lovely little sinner you. Ha, ha.
