Identify Your Discerning Heart

Your discerning heart works not on your flesh and emotions
but on your love for God and His ways.

Have you been watching out for your discerning and wise heart?  Did you find it difficult to determine when a decision was based on your discerning heart?  In case your pursuit to see your discerning heart in action has been a little foggy, please allow me to help you out.  To make it a little more clear for you see the list below.

Decisions based on a discerning heart look like this:

  1. A decision based purely on what is right and pleasing to God despite how you feel or what you want.

  2. A decision that is not ruled by your emotions or any hint of selfishness.

  3. A decision that is obedient to God's Word when your body says no.

  4. A decision to do something good and not evil although you hurt inside doing it.

  5. A decision that dismisses the words and actions of others in order to do what God would want.

  6. A decision that allows God's love to show through you yet may be uncomfortable.
Watch for decisions you make that are pleasing to God but not so pleasing to your body, emotions or the rest of you.  Plain and simply said:  Your discerning, wise heart makes a decision that is good, right and pleasing to God despite how you feel.

Your discerning heart dismisses hurt feelings, bad habits, negative attitudes and all those things that could easily dissuade you from a Godly decision.  Your discerning heart, you see, is powerful.  It can overcome your desires and feelings that may try to block you from walking in God's ways.  This is the power that God has given you to overcome.  When you asked for it, He gave it to you generously.  James 1:5  If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

When you recognize your discerning heart as a gift from God working in your life, many things are happening to you.
#1.  You have just witnessed first hand, an immediate answer to prayer.  Did you see your discerning heart in action immediately?  Probably not.   However it was not yet acting or possibly going unnoticed.  You did receive it.  "It will be given to him."

#2.  You now have a powerful source of help in decision making.  Decision making will come easier without second guessing yourself.  It will be based on doing the Godly and right thing.

#3.  You can use your gift and let it instill confidence in your walk with God.  You know you received a discerning  heart from God, and you are so much more confident when approached by a decision.

#4.  Life is easier because you don't have to call on God for everything.  A lot of the answers lie inside of you, in your discerning heart.

#5.  You now have a source inside your heart to help you overcome your emotions and feelings.  You have power to make decisions and follow through regardless of how it makes you feel.  That is huge.

#6.  Others will begin to notice your decisions changing to match more closely to a Godly approach.  They will see your confidence grow in God, his Word and your very own decisions.  Then they will want what you have in your heart, and you can help them get it.  Wow!

#7.  And lastly,
you will see a change in yourself, one that you did not know was possible.  You will see your own actions start to look like Christ.  Yes, it is true.  When you allow your discerning heart to make the decisions in your life, you will become more like Christ.

Find fulfillment and joy in knowing that you now possess a discerning and wise heart given to you directly from God.  Now continue to look for it and see it in action.  When you do recognize it for what it is in your daily life, it will create even more power.  Receiving a gift such as this from God and recognizing it will change your life.  Recognizing it is a step in showing your appreciation to God.  It is a step in faith.  You are saying, "I believe you God and your Word.  I know when I asked for a discerning heart you gave it to me, just as it says in your Word.  I believe this to be true therefore I am looking for it in my daily life."  See what I mean girls.  This is faith!  You have a new dose of faith.

( Never say you don't have much faith or that you lack faith.  It is not true.  You just never looked for it.  You never took the time to look for it and enjoy it.  You absolutely have faith and when you notice it, watch out below!  Your faith will be a force in your life.)

Dear Father God,
Thank you for giving me these words to help these beautiful women in watching for their discerning, wise hearts in action.  We know that Satan will certainly try to stop us from seeing it.  But we Lord will not let that stop our watchful eyes and ears.  We know you gave us this gift, and it will appear often.

Father please allow these sweet ladies to see their discerning hearts working in their lives.  Give them revelation like never before.  Make it undeniable for them.  Let their hearts be strong and willing to discern and do what pleases you.  They want it.  I know you gave it to them generously.  Now Father help them see the amazing, powerful gift they own.

I pray these words in the name of Jesus, my Lord and Savior.
Amen
