Meditation Now - Week 2 Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening

 Hear, O Israel.
Deuteronomy 6:4

Good morning Israel.  Good morning lovely ladies of Israel, and you are lovely.  As I went through my week of meditating on “Hear, O Israel” I did listen and hear.  God did take me from day one of meditating on these three words and not getting much, then a few days later getting something special from Him.  I have heard from my mother and a friend what God shared with them on this first week of meditating, and it was so different than my experience.  God has something special and unique for each of us.  If you are interested in sending me your thoughts from the first week of Meditation Now I would love, love to hear it.  I hope it was a great beginning for you in this Bible study.  If you did not really receive anything from your efforts in meditating this week, don’t you dare be discouraged.  Why?  Because you need to rejoice in the fact that you meditated on the Word of God.  You spent time seeking God.  And if you did not remember to meditate or just got to busy that is fine also.  You are a busy woman with a lot on your mind.  God knows that.  Maybe this week will be your week of meditation.

Deuteronomy 6:4  Hear, O Israel.

Today I want to send you to 1 Samuel 3: 3-10

1 Samuel 3:3-10

The Lord Calls Samuel

3 The boy Samuel ministered before the Lord under Eli. In those days the word of the Lord was rare; there were not many visions.
One night Eli, whose eyes were becoming so weak that he could barely see, was lying down in his usual place. The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house of the Lord, where the ark of God was. Then the Lord called Samuel.
Samuel answered, “Here I am.” And he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”
But Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” So he went and lay down.
Again the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”
“My son,” Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.”
Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord: The word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him.
A third time the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”
Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!”
Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening
.”

Eli the priest gave Samuel some very good advice that all of us could use as well.  He said to tell God, “Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening!”  I have listened for God often.  I have tried to eliminate every distraction possible including my own thoughts.  It is not so easy.  I have never told God “speak, for I am listening.”  Wow.  I know we need to return to Deuteronomy 6:4-5 but for now can we learn to listen for God (not just to God)? I want you to continue to meditate on “Hear, O Israel” and also take Eli’s advice.  Tell your Father God, “Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.”  That is it!  It is another easy week of Mediation Now.  It is easy, but can be powerful.

Homework Week 2 –

Meditate on:
  •  Deuteronomy 6:4
                         Hear, O Israel.

  • Tell your God
Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.

Dear Father,
This week we will seek you and find you.  We will listen and hear.
In Jesus name,
Amen
