Meditation Now - Week 4 The Definition of Loving God

Deuteronomy 6: 4-5 NIV
4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

Matthew 22: 37-38 NIV
The Greatest Commandment

34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Dear wonderful believers it is time to move on to God’s commandment of love.  Learning and meditating on  Matthew 22:37 will teach us how to love God more.  Loving God more will give us peace, direction,  gladness, love for others… We will now move from our verse in Deuteronomy 4:4 and go to Matthew 22:37 to let Jesus speak to us.  However continue to remember and meditate on  4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.  Hear dear one, God wants you to hear Him.  Keep that in your mind and heart while we learn to love Him more in our next verse.

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
Matthew 22:37

The absolute greatest commandment is this: Matthew 22:37.  So to meditate on the greatest commandment can only bring us closer to our God, without a doubt.  This week look at only “Love the LORD your God with all your heart.”  Especially meditate on the word “love.”  Did you know love for God is defined as an all-consuming devotion to Him?  The Hebrew word ahab from Deuteronomy 6:5 means exactly that.  Do you and I have an all-consuming devotion for God?  I cannot say “yes” to that question in all honesty.  I am not sure that many people can answer “yes” to that question.  However!  I said “however” we can absolutely work toward it.  We can give God our effort and He will help with the rest.

Meditate on this throughout the week to start to love God more:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart

Give the Lord your God your all-consuming devotion with all your heart.

Also consider how to give with your heart.  What is your heart?  How does your heart work for you?  How could you give all-consuming devotion with your heart?  It is your heart.  You know it better than anyone else other than your Creator.  It is going to be a strong week for you while you learn how to use your heart, how to use it to give the Lord your God its all-consuming devotion.  This week is not about giving God all-consuming devotion with your soul or with your mind.  This week is only about your heart.  As you meditate and think about these things this week your heart is going to make some type of shift.  I don’t know exactly what shift, but it will.  Look forward to it.  Be excited about it.  Tears come to my eyes as I anticipate something new entering in your heart, your heart dear one.  I love you and your heart deserves more of God.  I will keep your special heart  in my prayers every day this week.

Love,
Truly
