Jeremiah 29:11-12 (NIV)
11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
12 "Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."
CALLS:
How often are you on calls? Phone calls? I don't know about you but I have been on calls, calls and more calls lately. My cell phone, my home phone, texting, voice mail..... I talk often on my cell phone, and now I have begun texting often. I can't even guess how many times I have been on calls today. And I certainly can't tell you how many minutes that I have used my time on these calls, not to mention checking messages, missed calls, texting and more. I dare not check my cell phone usage records today, or I might be ashamed of myself. Why? Because of Jeremiah 29:12.
I was preparing for our study and began to meditate on the first few words of Jeremiah 29:12.
12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
"Then you will call upon me." God pointed out the word "call" to me. "Who are you calling upon Truly?" I heard. I am calling friends and family a lot. But am I calling upon the Lord often as well?
So He has given us a little exercise or test for the day. Take a blank index card and start counting your calls throughout the day. Count incoming calls, outgoing call, text calls, leaving messages, receiving messages and anything resembling a call. Now on the back side of your card, start counting the calls you make to God throughout the day. Each time you call upon Him write it down. Tonight before you drift off to sleep, take a look at the front of your index card and then the back. Then begin meditating on Jeremiah 29:12.
That's it ladies. I will send you another email this week with our next instructions on meditating. I hope you all are coming closer and closer to God through your meditating.
Love,
Truly
